RANDOM ENCOUNTERS
Any other character you meet while exploring that is not a mob or a boss is a "Random Encounter". There are no random encounters in Demon Gates, Alien Portal, Alien Invasion, Arena, and Mystic Wars.
You can fight all of the following NPCs, and they also give other bonus aside from their experience. They are always an elite mob so be careful especially early in the game.
There are also encounters with no Fight option:

- Guardian of Dreams (GoD) - you should always try to fight her to get good equipment (level 1 to 55) or MB (level 56 and above).
- Girl in Red (GiR) - you can either fight or befriend her for quest.
- The Imp - you can either fight or befriend him for quest.
- The Wiseman - there are 3 options: talk, trivia, and fight. If you choose talk or trivia, you’ll get more coins than fight. You’ll get more experience when you fight him but less coins.
- The Gambler - you can either accept his challenge or just fight him. If you’re feeling lucky then go and challenge him, otherwise just beat the daylights out of him. There’s a pretty long and convincing argument about gambling in this guide: http://goo.gl/GLYoP
- Dust Merchant - sells dusts at half the price of the town healer’s.
- Magic Elf - ALWAYS fight her. There’s a 20 to 25% chance of her dropping an enhance potion if you win. It may seem low considering she appears quite rarely and there’s a chance for the potion to fail, but your coins are better spent somewhere more important like maxing str and con and saving for mists for events. At low levels it’s likely that you’ll be changing equipment often and sell them, so it’s not a necessity to enhance them yet.
There are also encounters with no Fight option:
- The Beggar - NEVER scare the beggar away. By giving her coins she can either give you an equipment or 4 energy. To know the exact amount to give her, please refer to this spreadsheet. If you enter an amount with even 1 coin less she will take the coins and walk away, so be careful.
- The Well - It can give you 4 energy, SP refill, or coins depending on the amount of coins you threw. Use the same spreadsheet as the Beggar for the amount of coins to throw. Its main use is in raging bosses. Just throw 1 billion coins to cut raging by 25%.
- Puzzle Box - gives coins or random items when solved (and pills, if you're not softcapped yet)
- Treasure Chest - gives coins or crystals, and sometimes arena passes, when solved.
- Magic Mushroom - always taste it. It restores 4 energy.
- Treasure Map - always click search, it yields coins, random item, or an enhance potion.
- Easter Bunny - only appears during the Easter event. She gives away one Easter egg per encounter, and the egg functions the same as MB.
- Ms. Santa - same as the Easter Bunny, only at Christmas event
How can I solve the chests and puzzle boxes?
The easiest way is to use this link. Another way is to buy the Magic Pick and Puzzle Decoder premium items. However, if you want to take the challenge and solve them yourself, here’s how:
Puzzle box (minesweeper) - the aim is to get the 4 correct buttons (green). Always look for the highest number first. A 3 in a side means all its adjacent buttons are green (diagonal is NOT adjacent!). A 2 in a corner means both adjacent buttons are green. A 4 is already a bonus, all the greens are already marked for you. Some puzzles will only have 2’s, 1’s and 0’s to guide you, and they may involve a little trial and error, just be more careful around the 0’s. The more you do this puzzle the more you’ll remember the patterns and eventually makes it easier for you.
Puzzle box (colors) - they call this “mastermind” in the forum. This is actually harder to explain, and is purely trial and error. First of all, do not just click in random. Always start on the same point going in the same direction - left to right, and work your way downwards from red to yellow.
What I do is to click all reds first (RRRR). If I get all 4 on first try then lucky!
If only 3 are correct then I put 1 to green, beginning from the rightmost (RRRG).
If there’s 2 correct and 2 wrong position just move the green to the left (RRGR).
If there’s no green then proceed to blue (RRRB). For wrong positions, just move blue to the left (RRBR)
Do the same for yellow if there’s no green or blue. Same pattern will work for every color and number.
I know the instructions are confusing. My best advice is to try it yourself and find the way that works best for you. Like the minesweeper, the more you practice solving the puzzle the easier it gets to get the pattern.
Chest (age) - Just be careful with the word modifiers to know if you will add or subtract. “will be xx in xx years...now” means subtract. “How young will I be in xx years?” means add.
Chest (liquid) - Divide the bigger number by the smaller number and take only the whole number from the quotient.
Chest (farm question) - Always take the number of feet of the second animal (chicken=2, cow=3, horse=4), multiply it by the number of heads given, then subtract the number of feet given. If the question involves horses and chickens (whatever order), divide your answer by 2. Formula: (animal) * <heads> - <feet>.
